Jean Hawxhurst, Le mouvement œcuménique aux États-Unis. Réflexions d’une ecclésiastique méthodiste unie.
Résumé : Après avoir rappelé quelques éléments de l’histoire du mouvement œcuménique, notamment la recherche d’une unité visible, l’auteure montre comment il a évolué vers un œcuménisme relationnel orienté vers l’action, dont témoignent Christian Churches Together et Churches Uniting in Christ. Enfin, elle dégage sept défis pour l’avenir et conclut en plaidant pour un ralentissement du mouvement qui permette aux partenaires de s’écouter et de s’entraider pour guérir leurs blessures.
Abstract : After recalling some of the history of the ecumenical movement, including the search for visible unity, the author shows how it has evolved into a relational, action-oriented ecumenism, as exemplified by Christian Churches Together and Churches Uniting in Christ. Finally, she identifies seven challenges for the future and concludes with a plea for a deceleration of the movement so that partners can listen to each other and help each other heal their wounds.

Résumé : En se référant aux regards des papes Léon XIII, Jean Paul II et François, l’auteur montre l’impact des relations œcuméniques aux États-Unis en considérant successivement la relation entre l’Église et l’État, les questions familiales, la nécessité de liens avec l’Amérique du Sud et l’Amérique centrale, le service de la communauté internationale à travers les dialogues et le souci du bien-être des populations autochtones ou d’ascendance africaine.
Abstract : Referring to the views of Popes Leo XIII, John Paul II, and Francis, the author shows the impact of ecumenical relations in the United States by considering successively the relationship between church and state, family issues, the need for ties with South and Central America, the service to the international community through dialogues, and the concern for the welfare of indigenous and Afro-descendant populations.
Nicolas Kazarian, Entretien sur le mouvement œcuménique aux États-Unis. Un regard orthodoxe.
Résumé :Après avoir situé la minorité orthodoxe au sein de la réalité œcuménique américaine multipolaire, différente de la France, l’auteur analyse les raisons de la perte d’influence des organismes œcuméniques et le déplacement de l’effort œcuménique vers les questions sociales, où les orthodoxes s’engagent contre l’avortement et la défense de l’environnement. Puis il évoque le travail mené dans les dialogues avec les catholiques et les Églises orthodoxes orientales, avant de conclure sur sa conviction que l’avenir de l’orthodoxie aux États-Unis continuera de s’écrire sur la scène œcuménique.
Abstract : After describing the Orthodox minority within the multipolar ecumenical context in the United States, which differs from the situation in France, the author analyzes the reasons for the loss of influence of ecumenical bodies and the shift of ecumenical effort to social issues, where Orthodox Christians are engaged in anti-abortion and environmental advocacy. He then discusses the work being done in dialogues with Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Churches, before concluding with his belief that the future of Orthodoxy in the United States will continue to be written in the ecumenical arena.
Christopher A. Stephenson, L’œcuménisme pentecôtiste aux États-Unis. Réalisations récentes, défis et opportunités.
Résumé : Se focalisant sur des aspects récents du pentecôtisme aux États-Unis, l’auteur analyse d’abord le dialogue qui s’est déroulé, en 2016 et 2018, entre l’Église de Dieu [COG] et l’Église mennonite des États-Unis [MCUSA], puis il considère les caractéristiques des néo-charismatiques, dont il souligne à la fois les prises de distance par rapport au mouvement œcuménique et le potentiel œcuménique.
Abstract : Focusing on recent aspects of Pentecostalism in the United States, the author first analyzes the 2016-2018 dialogue between the Church of God [COG] and the Mennonite Church USA [MCUSA], and then considers the characteristics of neo-Charismatics, highlighting both their distancing from the ecumenical movement and their ecumenical potential.
