Baptême dans l’Esprit ou effusion de l’Esprit ? Propos d’ouverture : quelques convictions
Résumé : Le baptême dans l’Esprit Saint est une réalité capitale pour la vie chrétienne, mais encore trop mal comprise, en particulier dans l’Église catholique. L’article montre dans un premier temps comment le baptême dans l’Esprit suscite le don de soi et le renouveau de la vie ecclésiale, en particulier par son lien aux sacrements de l’initiation chrétienne qu’il vient revivifier. Dans un second temps, il souligne ce qui est en jeu, notamment au niveau œcuménique, dans le choix du mot « baptême » (dans l’Esprit Saint) plutôt que « effusion » (de l’Esprit Saint).
Abstract : Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a central reality of Christian life, but is still too poorly understood, particularly in the Catholic Church. Firstly, this article shows how baptism in the Spirit generates self-giving and renewal of ecclesial life, especially through its relationship to the sacraments of Christian initiation which it revives. Secondly, we will highlight the current challenges, especially at an ecumenical level, regarding the choice of the word ‟baptism” (in the Holy Spirit) rather than ‟outpouring” (of the Holy Spirit).
