Le métropolite André Szeptyckyj et les pogromes des juifs d’Ukraine (1941-1944)
Résumé : L’auteur éclaire l’attitude du métropolite Szeptyckyj vis-à-vis du régime nazi en analysant la correspondance qui lui est attribuée, avec les chefs du Troisième Reich ou le Saint-Siège, et ses Lettres pastorales ; il montre pourquoi le chef de l’Église gréco-catholique ukrainienne s’est réjoui dans un premier temps de la conquête de Lviv par les Allemands, puis comment il sut dénoncer ce régime de terreur et l’extermination des juifs.
Abstract : The author sheds light on the attitude of Metropolitan Szeptyckyj towards the Nazi regime by analyzing the correspondence attributed to him with the leaders of the Third Reich or the Holy See, as well as his Pastoral Letters. He shows why the head of the Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church initially welcomed the German conquest of Lviv, then how he came to denounce this regime of terror and the extermination of the Jews.
