Abstract : After mentioning the place of creedal statements within the evangelical sphere and wondering about the legislative weight to be accorded to the Declaration of Faith of the United Protestant Church of France – which appears to have evolved from a missionary project into a reference text – the author provides a nuanced evaluation of the text. Then he spends time on its main elements, notably on its historical references, the place accorded to the Bible, to the Gospel of grace, to the Person of Jesus Christ, and to the vocation of the Church, each time pointing out the ways in which the text is, from an evangelical point of view, lacking.
