L’intégration des Églises de tradition syriaque dans le dialogue œcuménique. L’apport de Pro Oriente

Résumé : Après avoir rappelé la différence entre les traditions syriaques orientale et occidentale, l’auteur expose la genèse d’un dialogue entre les Églises de ces deux traditions sous l’égide de la fondation Pro Oriente au début des années 1990, puis il présente les résultats des deux premières phases, consacrées aux questions christologique et sacramentaire, avant d’expliquer les raisons d’une réorientation du dialogue, par la constitution d’un Forum Syriacum consacré aux défis actuels auxquels elles sont confrontées dans des pays pluralistes.

Abstract : After calling attention to the differences between the Eastern and Western Syriac traditions, the author recounts the origin of the dialogue between the Churches of these two traditions under the auspices of the Pro Oriente foundation at the beginning of the 1990’s, then presents the results of the first two phases concerned with the christological and sacramentary questions, before explaining the reasons for the reorientation of the dialogue, through the constitution of a Syriacum Forum devoted to the challenges these Churches are facing today in pluralistic countries.

Les débuts de la collaboration entre les Églises orientales orthodoxes au XXe siècle

Résumé : L’auteur explique comment le mouvement œcuménique du XXe siècle a amené les Églises orthodoxes orientales, si différentes, à se rapprocher, dans le cadre de rencontres avec les Églises de tradition byzantine, puis d’une Conférence convoquée en 1965 par l’Empereur d’Éthiopie et enfin de dialogues avec Rome à la suite de Vatican II.

Abstract : The author explains how the ecumenical movement of the XXth century brought together the deeply contrasted Eastern Orthodox Churches through meetings held between Churches of the Byzantine tradition, then at a 1965 Conference summoned by the Ethiopian Emperor, and finally through dialogues initiated with Rome after Vatican II.
